Any help that we can get to contribute to the physiotherapy and equipment that these children may need on their journey would make the world of difference to them.
TLC Children’s Home
Children with special needs come into this world as the most inspirational teachers. We’ve learnt some of the most important life lessons from our patients…
To love unconditionally, to accept what you can’t change, the value of patience, to judge less, to celebrate each simple accomplishment, but most importantly to be grateful for the small things we take for granted everyday, to be able to see, to hear, to express yourself, to walk, run, to participate in society and to have a purpose. If we are able to ease just once ounce of a child’s discomfort, then our therapy centre and all we work for has not been in vain.
The Love of Christ Children’s Home – TLC (www.tlc.org.za) was established by the Jarvis family in the early 90’s. Their mission is to rescue babies who have been abandoned or orphaned.
Currently, TLC takes care of three children with cerebral palsy. They are Carsten (5 years old), Zotani (4 years old) and Faye (7 years old). We have been seeing each child from infancy. Our mission is to ensure each child’s optimal development so that they can attend school or learn workplace skills, in order to participate in society.
Any help that we can get to contribute to the physiotherapy and equipment that these children may need on their journey would make the world of difference to them.
To give you some idea of the financial commitment, a year of care for a child is approximately R25,000 – R100,000, depending on what they need.
