Chiropractic is an alternative form of medical practice that results in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders that occur between the spine and nervous system. When the musculoskeletal system isn’t functioning at its best, our general health is impacted.
Using a specialised and unique medical approach, we are able to determine why certain aches and pains occur and can establish a suitable approach to treatment that will enable you, your baby or child to recover and function at your best.
Doctors of Chiropractic use the same time-honoured methods of consultation, case history, physical examination, laboratory analysis and x-ray examination.
We recognise the value and responsibility of working in collaboration with other healthcare practitioners when it is in the best interest of the patient and will provide appropriate support on this basis, should the need arise.
Along with this, we have established a series of partnerships with additional industry-leading experts that will further support you on your road to recovery.
General wear and tear, sporting injuries, pregnancy, age and occupation can all have an impact on our musculoskeletal system, placing it under stress and strain. Our dedicated team at ChiroKids & Mom brings together years of knowledge and expertise that will enable us to provide you with specialised individual care.
We have a passion for babies, moms, children, sports men and women, as well as individuals with special needs, and have established an experienced and knowledgeable team to assist you at either of our practices in Befordview and Petervale, Sandton.
Why chiropractic for kids?
One adjustment in a child is worth 50 in an adult
General screen is recommended following birth
Check-ups are recommended at all major milestones
The goal of treatment is prevention rather than cure
To alleviate or eliminate asymmetries in spinal structure, posture/gait and the symptoms thereof
No chiropractic treatment will be prescribed without evidence of spinal subluxation or lack of mobility at a particular joint of the spine
Treatment involves very gentle spinal/manipulative techniques tailored to the age of baby to help relax stiff joints and stimulate the nervous and immune systems.
Children are subjected to 2 major challenges during development:
- Birth trauma or stress
- In the first year of life a child develops from a lying infant, to a crawling baby, to a walking toddler.
